Sisters' Weekend

I finished up with my summer classes a little over a week ago.  I am now way less busy and sometimes I don't even know what to do with all my extra time.  I am working, but it is only a part time job where I work a few nights a week and some on the weekends.  I don't really want to get a second job because by the time I were to get one and start working, fall classes will be starting up.  Really nothing exciting is going on this summer, so I am trying to find some things to do.

One thing that my sister and I really wanted to do was for her to come down and stay with me in my apartment.  With my classes being over with, this last weekend was a great time for her to come.  We were both pretty excited for our weekend together.

I met my mom half way on Friday morning to pick up Sarah.  Sarah and I headed straight to The Cafe to pick up some sandwiches for lunch, and then went to the horse barns to eat them and see the horses.

I love going to The Cafe - it is so much fun seeing all their delicious looking desserts!

^^A little picnic lunch by the horse barns.^^
^^My ham and asparagus sandwich!^^

We had sat down to eat our lunch and these two horses came over to see us and what we were doing.  It was pretty funny!

Sarah brought sugar cubes to feed them.  Usually the horses are a little timid, but the one loved the sugar cubes, and the other wasn't too sure about trying them.  Sarah just LOVES seeing the horses - we had to go see them several times.

After seeing the horses, we went to my apartment, unloaded all of Sarah's overnight things, went to the grocery store, and then made cupcakes and lemonade.  This is the lemonade recipe we tried.

We made my favorite chocolate cake recipe into cupcakes and frosted some with a buttercream frosting and some with a peanut butter frosting.  The were delicious!

After frosting, and eating, some cupcakes, we went to play tennis.  Sarah wanted to practice so we did.  It was a lot of fun, but I am not very good.

We came back to my apartment and had supper - we got a baguette from The Cafe and had some meat, cheese, cherries, and lemonade with it.  Sarah loves having meat, cheese, and bread/crackers.  We spent the evening playing a couple games and just hanging out.

On Saturday morning, we got up and made coffee cake!  It was so good!

^^Sarah really likes this coffee cake.^^

We then went to practice more tennis.

It was a beautiful day out and we spent most of it outside.

After playing tennis, and stopping to see the horses (the friendly ones were out though), we went back to my apartment to have a quick lunch - taco salads and and lemonade.

That afternoon we went to the watermark.  It was a beautiful day, but I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to getting wet and cold, so I didn't last long.  It has to be SUPER hot for me to like swimming.  We were at the watermark for about 2 hours and then decided to go (stopping to see the horses on our way back).

Saturday evening we just hung out at my apartment and made homemade pizza - chicken spinach garlic.  It was getting later, but was still a bit early to go to bed, so I decided we should go to Walmart - I needed a new fan and couple other random things, but of course we found other things to look at.

Sunday morning we go up and went to church.  Thomas came to pick Sarah up around lunch time.  It was fun having someone to spend the weekend with and I hope Sarah had a good time doing all we did!
